Stuart Baxter feels that the nervousness and lack of quality were the factors behind their massive loss on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a huge blow when they lost 4-1 to Royal AM on Saturday that left fans severely disappointed.

Many cried out about Stuart Baxter's tactics overlooking the likes of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, a ball player with numerous capabilities.

Chiefs' Pathutshedzo Nange got injured before the end of first half and the Scottish replaced him with Akumu Agay. According to fans, "that was a defensive approach".

However, Baxter shared his thoughts about the game.

"I thought ght the first 30 minutes of the game we picked up a little bit where we left off (against Mamelodi Sundowns a week earlier). The structure and the movement were quite good. We were creating chances, but again we failed to take them,” Baxter said.

“We gave up a rather unnecessary and sloppy goal from our side. We again get into a situation where we want to change the game a little bit. We tried to stay patient, but (Phathutshedzo) Nange gets injured and we lose a little bit of balance. At half-time we were talking about sharpening aspects of the game, not overhauling.”

“Then we concede (again) and chase and we go to a back four, which maybe makes it a little bit complicated for the players, I don’t know. It’s something the coach has to consider. In any case, the nervousness and lack of quality and naivety of our decision making made it very difficult to get back into the game,” added Baxter.

“Even though we got a goal back, we allowed a goal straight away. The last 10 minutes were quite embarrassing and we need to apologise to our supporters for the manner in which the game finished. What started off a good night turned into a very poor one from our side.”

Amakhosi's next league match will see them traveling to Limpopo to face Marumo Gallants.
