"We want to finish in top 4" - Tinkler
The last time Cape Town City lifted silverware was when they won MTN 8 in 2018 under Benni McCarthy's leadership.
Eric Tinkler is in his second stint as Citizens head coach. He has come out to say they want to finish within top four this season.
"We've set ourselves the target and objective to try and finish in the top four," CT City head coach Eric Tinkler said.
"For me, it has always been about wanting to win trophies and achieve things.
"In my first spell with Cape Town City we managed to win the Telkom Knockout, we managed to finish third in the league, and now it's about getting the belief into all of the players in the squad and making them aware that Cape Town City is no longer a stepping stone to better things."
"Cape Town City is a club that is very, very ambitious and wants to win things and the squad that we have built needs to believe that they are good enough to achieve those objectives," he added.
"That's been the plan since my arrival, to look to compete in all areas. In the MTN 8, we want to get through the semi-finals into the final and I believe we can go all the way and collect that trophy.
"The league is something I have never won as a coach and I'd like to win the league, but it's a long road and it's a tough road. You've got to have a strong squad, both physically and mentally, and I think we potentially have that."
